The struggle leader was born on 6 June, 1925.
After 1946, he worked in several industries and factories where he experienced worker exploitation.
In 1951 he joined the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL).

Anti-apartheid activism and subsequent arrest:
In 1954, Mlangeni joined the ANC.
He was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment on Robben Island.
Mlangeni served as an MP for the ANC from 1994 to 1999.
He served again from 2009 to 2014 in the National Assembly and retired in late 2014.
The couple had four children.
Mlangeni was the last surviving Rivonia Trialist.Lala ngoxolo Baba Mlangeni.

Zindzi was the youngest daughter of former late President Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Zindzi was only 18 months old when Madiba was sentenced to life behind bars.
