Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has announced the name change of the Eastern Cape Municipality Mbizana.
The municipality will be renamed in honour of anti-apartheid activist and struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

The change was reportedly gazetted at the beginning of the month.
The report continued by saying that theANCFree State branch said the renaming process is essential for speedy service delivery.

He claims that Gqeberha has no meaning for the people living there.
He has requested that Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa reverse the name change.

His spokesperson, Morne Steyn confirmed that the mayor is against the renaming of the city.
He said that the mayor does not believe that the name is inclusive.
